Concert Safety

When attending large events or concerts, it is not uncommon for people to become overheated, claustrophobic, or dehydrated. While these are the results of improper preparation by concert-goers, the event hosts have a responsibility to maintain crowd control in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

If you or someone you love was injured or killed because of ineffective crowd control, the event’s organizers may be liable. Staying Safe with FIST

When at a large event, festival, or concert, there are several things you can do to help stay safe and protected amidst large crowds. The acronym FIST was created to help you remember some safety tips while pumping your fist to your favorite rock legend:

  • Force: An estimation of the pressure loads created by a crowd
  • Information: Make yourself familiar with the grounds. Of particular importance are the locations of medical tents, restrooms, and exits.
  • Space: The capacity for persons in a given space. If admission is to the general public, and there is no limit regulation, crowd control could become a serious problem.
  • Time: When entering and exiting, there are often large crowds waiting at the entrance/exits. In order to avoid stampeding, arrive early and leave early–or late.

If you find yourself in a large mass of uncontrollable bodies, and you feel as though your safety is threatened, exit immediately.
