Miraculous Rescue on Lake Michigan

by Administrator 22. August 2008 07:08

Monday night a scary event took place for four individuals about a half-mile from shore in Lake Michigan.  Two men, neighbors, decided to take the boat out for a spin.  Unexpectedly, a large wave hit the boat, forcing it to sink.  The four people found themselves in the water shortly after the event.

The group consisted of an 8-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.  The other two individuals were the fathers of the children.  One of the men did not have his life jacket on and had to tread water for almost an hour before the rescue crew arrived.

While sometimes accidents happen, boat manufactures should make provisions to ensure that their products can stand up to the rigors of extreme boating.  After all, design faults have been known to occur.  If you believe that your boat is not functioning properly, call the Green Bay personal injury attorneys of the Habush, Habush, and Rottier law firm at 920-437-0900.

The California Department of Public Health fined 18 hospitals for state health code violations in which patients died. Each hospital was fined $25,000. Kathleen Billingsley, the director of the health department’s Center for Healthcare Quality, stated “The number of penalties will decrease and the quality of care will dramatically improve as hospitals take action to improve.”

The violations ranged from a ventilator that was not turned on to patient who fell from a wheelchair that was not fastened in a seatbelt. The state in total has issued 61 penalties for violations.
