Statistics for Aviation Accidents have Increased

Posted on Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at 4:45 am

The number of accidents occurring in airplanes increased in 2008.  The numbers reported by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed over 500 fatalities reported due to airline accidents.

The number of fatalities has decreased sinced 2007, from 672 persons, yet the number of crashes is up.

The IATA configured that 1 in 1.2 million airplane crashes occured in 2008.

25% of the accidents were reported as happenings that occurred during take-off.  The report also showed a deficiency in safety management was a factor in the accidents, which means many were most certainly preventable.

Young Man Dies From Faux Airbags

Posted on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at 6:02 am

The parents of Bobby Ellsworth are still saddened by their son's death in 2003.  Ellsworth was in a fatal accident while he was riding in his friend's pickup truck.  At the onset of the collision, Bobby's airbags failed to deploy.

Bobby's parents claim he would be alive today if he had been protected by the vehicle's airbags.

The truck his friend was driving had been totaled before, and taken to a repair/resale shop.  Unfortunately, the body shop that bought the truck failed to replace the airbags that had gone off perfectly in a prior accident.

Instead, they opted to fill the airbags with rags and paper, and had been glued shut.

If you have lost a loved one, or witnessed them suffering on account of an automobile defect, it is important you contact your Green Bay personal injury attorney at 800-242-2874 to discuss your case.
