Homeowner Found Liable for Injuries Caused by Houseguest’s Dog

Posted on Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at 1:18 am

The Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled that a homeowner who allowed a man and his dogs to live in her home is responsible for injuries sustained by a visitor when the dogs attacked. The woman's defense attorney claimed that she should not be held liable for the injuries because the dogs were not her full responsibility and were under the control of their "keeper".

The Supreme Court Justices unanimously ruled that by allowing the man and his dogs to live in her home, her actions fall under the definition of "harboring" a dog, according to state statutes. Despite the fact that the animal's true owner was present in the home, the court ruled that the homeowner also shared responsibility for the animal's actions.

The risk of snowmobile accidents

Posted on Monday, December 21st, 2009 at 5:49 am

As the snow begins to pile up in Wisconsin, some people resort to alternative means of transportation. These could include snowmobiles, which are not only used for sport but also for practical purposes.

However, snowmobile accidents are common for a variety of reasons. For instance, due to the inherent instability and high speed of these vehicles, many snowmobile drivers can lose control of their vehicles. These vehicles could crash into other objects or flip over on the driver.

Energy-efficient traffic lights ineffective in cold weather

Posted on Monday, December 14th, 2009 at 6:36 am

Some Wisconsin cities have installed energy-efficient traffic lights that have been problematic in cold weather. According to some city reports, the lights do not give off enough heat to melt  snow.

Because the snow does not melt, drivers cannot see the lights emitted by the traffic signal, leading to a serious traffic hazard. Hazards such as these can often lead to serious traffic accidents that may not be either driver's fault. Instead, the city may be at fault for installing a hazardous traffic signal.

If you or anyone you know has been injured because of a poor-performing traffic light, contact the Green Bay defective traffic light lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ®, at 800-242-2874.
