Last week, a Wisconsin couple was killed in a tragic aviation accident after their plane crashed in an area southwest of Baraboo. The plane took off from Lake in the Hills. The victims of the plane crash have been identified as 58-year old Robert Eigner and 44-year old Elaine Eigner of Hillsboro.
According to the Sauk County Sheriff's Office, the plane had a destination of Reesburg, Wisconsin. Paramedics and rescue crews were not able to get to the wreckage until nearly 4 hours after the accident due to heavy fog. In addition, the plane crashed in a rural and heavily wooded area that made finding it more difficult.
The couple's airplane was a Cessna 150 and is reported to have been using visual flight rules, rather than keeping in contact with an air tower. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the accident.
Our utmost sympathies are with the victims' family and friends during this difficult time.
