Earlier today, Dodge announced a recall of 242,780 defective Dodge Ram pickup trucks. The recall includes the 1500, 2500, 3500 models.
Authorities issued the recall after receiving several reports of the vehicles' loss of directional stability. The pickup trucks contain a structural defect that causes the left tie rod ball to fracture. This is most likely to occur when performing a high-stress maneuver, such as a sharp turn. If the part breaks, the vehicles are more likely to lose directional control and cause an accident.
The recalled vehicles were sold in the U.S. between 2003 and 2011. The vehicle's manufacturer has said that dealers are available to inspect the recalled pickup trucks.
