Ski race founder killed in bicycle accident

Posted under Uncategorized

Earlier this month, the 62-year old founder of the American Birkenbeiner Nordic Ski Race held in northern Wisconsin was killed in a tragic bicycle accident.

According to Sawyer County police reports, the man was riding his bicycle on Highway 27 near Hayward when he was hit by a car.  The driver involved in the accident told police that she had turned around to talk to her children and then turned back around to see the bicyclist.  She swerved to try and miss the bicyclist, but still hit him.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Duluth where he later passed away.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's family and friends.
