OSHA applies fall protection rules to residential contractors

Posted under Green Bay construction accident attorneys

Recently, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued a directive which applies fall protection regulations expected in commercial projects to residential projects.  Fall protection includes things like personal fall arrest, safety net, and guard rail systems.

The directive asks all residential construction contractors to implement and follow fall protection guidelines created by the agency when employees are working at heights of 6 feet or more.  Last year, OSHA issued more fines to employers in the U.S. over fall protection safety than any other type of safety or health regulation.

29 percent of deaths from falls in the construction industry occur at residential construction sites.
