A 32-year-old woman from Florida recently filed two lawsuits against her mother over a car accident in February of last year that occurred when her mom was behind the wheel. The plaintiff’s 1-year-old son was killed in the accident, and she and her 8-year-old daughter were injured.
The 57-year-old defendant, the victim’s grandmother, was driving with her children and grandchildren on U.S. Highway 169 when her vehicle crossed into opposing traffic and crashed into a vehicle head-on. The driver of the vehicle that was hit was killed in the accident, and a passenger was injured. Police reports indicate that the roads were icy at the time of the accident.
The defendant’s daughter filed a wrongful death suit against her mother on behalf of her son, seeking $100,000 in damages. In addition, she filed a separate personal injury lawsuit on behalf of her daughter, seeking $9,839 in compensation for medical bills.
