Rebar from Amway Arena implosion hits bystander

Posted under Green Bay personal injury attorneys

An eight-inch piece of reinforcing bar from the now-demolished Amway Arena hit a bystander Sunday morning seconds after the building was imploded. The 33 year-old man was about two blocks from the demolition site when he was hit in his leg.

An ambulance took him to the hospital where he had to have surgery on a broken fibula. His wife says he is expected to be released this week. A friend who witnessed the accident recalls being pelted by concrete and hearing the reinforcing bar whistle by.

No one else was injured by the flying debris. All of the man’s medical bills have been paid for by the president of Dykon Explosive Demolition Corp.
