Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire is facing a class-action lawsuit after 20 patients, including a hospital staff member, contracted hepatitis C while in its care. A criminal investigation by the attorney general’s office will be conducted due to the outbreak.
Public health officials are conducting their own investigation and say they believe hepatitis C was spread by medical personnel who used syringes on more than one patient. According to the Boston Globe, the lawsuit is accusing the hospital of negligence.
