Today the man who drove drunk and hit a Milwaukee police officer Christmas Day 2011 was sentenced to ten years in prison and ten years extended supervision. The driver pleaded no contest to first-degree felony reckless injury and first-degree felony reckless endangerment.
Authorities later found the hit-and-run suspect in Chicago where he tried to escape to Mexico. According to Fox 6 Now, the man was driving the wrong-way near 17th Street and Windlake Avenue when he struck the officer from behind.
The officer was in critical condition after the accident and is still recuperating from his injuries. He was sent approximately 30 to 40 feet from the site of impact.
