One hurt in Sturgeon Bay road accident

The Door County Sheriff’s Department police have identified failure to stop at a stop sign as the cause of a two-vehicle car crash that injured one person in Sturgeon Bay on Thursday, August 15 at around 3:20 p.m.

Brodhead local Paul Bielski was heading north on Wisconsin 42 when Sturgeon Bay resident Marion Pearce’s vehicle, which was heading east from a stop sign and crossing the highway towards County T, suddenly pulled out in front of him. Bielski crashed into the rear passenger side of Pearce’s car, damaging both cars. He said there was no way he could have avoided the collision. Bielski said he was not aware if Pearce stopped before the crash happened.

The officer Pearce gave her statement to said she appeared disoriented and confused when she recounted that she thought Bielski’s car was coming from the opposite direction.

Bielski was wounded during the incident.
