GM recall could extend to Saturn Ions

Posted under Automotive Defects

Saturn Ions that were manufactured from 2004-2007 were found to have the same power steering system as Chevrolet Cobalts manufactured from 2007-2010. Over 1 million Cobalts were recalled in 2010 after multiple incidences of power steering failure occurred.

GM has yet to recall the hundreds of thousands of Saturn Ions distributed across the United States. GM spokesman Greg Martin did not mention if they were going to recall the Saturn Ions, saying, “GM is redoubling efforts on pending product reviews.”

GM recalled a combined number of 1.05 million 2005-2010 Cobalts and 2007-2010 Pontiac G5s in March 2010 as there had been danger in these vehicles that the electric motor that powers the steering assist can fail to operate upon debris build-up on the motor’s brushes.
