Medical malpractice claims paid for doctors in Wisconsin dropping

Posted under Green Bay medical malpractice lawyers

The number of medical malpractice claims paid on behalf of doctors in Wisconsin has been dropping since 2002, a new study from Harvard and Stanford Universities showed.

The study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, showed the rate of paid claims decreased significantly to 9.9 paid claims per 1,000 physicians in 2013 from 18.6 per 1,000 physicians in 2002, a decline so large that the Journal Sentinel reported in June that the drop in medical malpractice paid claims in the state was much more than the national average. According to the National Practitioner Data Bank, the number of paid claims dropped by more than 66% in Wisconsin from 2003 to 2013 while the national decline was only 39%.
