A squad car operated by an officer with the Green Bay Police Department in Wisconsin sustained extensive damage after another car struck the vehicle in Green Bay’s west side near the corner of Military Avenue and Bond Street last Monday, March 23 at around 7 p.m.
According to preliminary investigations made by Green Bay police, the officer drove through a red light with his lights and sirens on in order to address an emergency call. The second vehicle struck the squad car as the two entered the intersection.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of the accident to see if speed was a factor, if any traffic violations were committed, or if any policies or procedures on the officer’s part were not observed.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are both expected to make a full recovery.
