Wisconsin: the state with the fewest medical malpractice claims

Posted under Medical Malpractice

An analysis made by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, based on records filed with the federal National Practitioner Data Bank, has shown that Wisconsin physicians had been found liable for fewer medical malpractice claims per capita than other doctors in any other states in the country in 2014.

Furthermore, the news outlet has found out that only six out of 1 million Wisconsin residents were able to collect a check that resulted from medical malpractice payouts, making the total number of payouts for that year only 37 – significantly lower than the national rate of 27 payouts per 1 million people.

Last year’s record marked the third time in which Wisconsin had listed malpractice payment rates as the lowest in the country. The state has ranked 47th or lower over 20 times since 1992.
