Recently in Pennsylvania, a portion of Interstate 80 in the Poconos was shut down after numerous people failed to observe cars braking in front of them. Traffic was down to one lane for about an hour until the accident was cleared from the roadway. Four of the seven vehicles were capable of being moved without the assistance of a tow truck, but the other three had to be towed as they sustained front-end damage, according to the Standard-Speaker of Pennsylvania.
Despite the fact that there were 7 vehicles involved, only one person (a passenger in one of the rear-ended cars) was actually injured. The injured was Anthony Martucci of New York who sustained a head injury. Martucci was a passenger in the last vehicle to rear-end one of the other vehicles involved in the crash. Martucci was taken to a local hospital. The passengers in the other cars were not hurt.
