Petition seeks end of fatal accidents in intersection

Posted under Car Accidents

Neenah, Wisconsin resident Patti Purcell calls the intersection of Winnebago County CB and Oakridge Road the “intersection of death”. Her nickname is not far from what the statistics from the Neenah Fire Department show. The intersection was the site of twenty accidents with injuries and two accidents that resulted in death as of January 2003 until present time – the highest accident record for an intersection in the town.

In an interview with USA TODAY NETWORK, Purcell stated she previously used the intersection to take her 15-year-old and 13-year-old sons to St. Mary Catholic School. But as the intersection garnered an unsafe reputation, Purcell ceased to use it, claiming “I feel like it’s so unsafe that I won’t take my kids there anymore.”

As of Monday, April 25, the petition was almost signed by 2,000 citizens.
